This is the first post in a new series called Honest Book Blurb. This first post is on Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. It is inspired by Honest Movie Trailers from Screen Junkies on Youtube. Taking a satirical approach to rewriting the blurbs of books I enjoy. Any jokes are just in good fun and not meant to offend anyone. These will be Blurbs that tell you the TRUTH about your favourite books: Honest Book Blurbs.
Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief
From Rick Riordan, the king of amazing opening chapters comes Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, for the kids who aren’t already obsessed with Harry Potter. Percy is a normal kid, but he can’t seem to stop finding trouble wherever he goes. He has relatable struggles like dyslexia, ADHD and his teachers turning into monsters and trying to kill him.
When Percy’s mom finds out, she knows it’s time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he must go to the one place he’ll be safe, Camp Half-Blood. Where he is almost instantly attacked by a hellhound and sent out. She sends Percy to Camp Half-Blood, no it’s nothing like Hogwarts apart from the secret entrance, kids being placed in different Cabins and training to learn to control powers. Okay, so it’s similar to Hogwarts. But It’s a summer camp for demigods, where he learns that the father he never knew is a god. Don’t know anything about Greek Mythology? You will once you finish this book or be prepared to constantly flip to the glossary filled with names so difficult to read you’ll feel as dyslectic as Percy.
Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one funny and the other his superior in every way (It is definitely not Harry Potter)- Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to help the dad he never knew by reaching the gates of the Underworld and preventing a catastrophic war between the gods.
He encounters all sorts of creatures that he defeats thanks to his sword Riptide which is also a pen! Having every child who reads it nervously or excitedly clicking their pen. Join Percy Jackson on his journey as he fights legendary figures such as Medusa and Ares. Wait how old is he again? 12 years old?! Okay… if you say so.
For those who dare to read this story, you’ll be sure to enjoy his adventure. His name is Percy Jackson, The Half-Blood Prince. No, it’s really not Harry Potter.
Half boy, Half god, All Wizard.
